MAINTEX AND SAP DISCUSSED STRATEGIC APPROACH TO ASSET MANAGEMENT AT JOINT SEMINAR
26.03.2013

Over 100 representatives of various industries interested in strategic approach to asset management gathered at an event dedicated to strategy management basics with SAP and Meridium solutions. The seminar took place on March 19, 2013, in the Baltschug Kempinski Hotel.

Representatives of companies using the SAP maintenance and repair management solution and those who are just planning to use it learned how they could increase their benefits.

The key to improved efficiency is to use world best practices in maintenance management, including RBI (Risk-Based Inspection), RCM (Reliability-Centered Maintenance), RCA (Root Cause Analysis), HAZOP (HAZard and OPerability analysis), etc. These practices are implemented with the Meridium Asset Performance Management solution. The audience learned how the solution based on SAP EAM and Meridium АРМ  enables comprehensive management of production risks and asset reliability.

The benefits gained by asset-intensive companies with SAP and Meridium solutions were presented. These include: reduced production losses, prolonged overhaul life, reduced production risks, higher availability of dynamically operating equipment, reduced risk of fixed equipment integrity loss, reduced costs for unplanned repair works.

Paul Casto's presentation aroused specific interest of the audience. Meridium Vice-President demonstrated case of business profitability increase and risk mitigation at Eastman Chemical, one of the largest Western chemical companies. Discussion also concerned applicability of western practices for maintenance management in Russia and use of asset maintenance strategies on the base of the Meridium solution. Behind the scenes, implementation of strategic maintenance management at a particular plant was mainly discussed.

Many attendees were interested in Maintex's experience related to increasing overhaul life, introduction of cultural changes in large companies, and approval of new approaches by regulating bodies. A corresponding report was presented at the event.

Seminar attendees exchanged experiences in SAP EAM implementation at their plants, shared their achievements, and evaluated the willingness to develop the solution in terms of reliability and risk management.

"Even today many companies are realizing that the traditional approach to maintenance and repair management is not sufficient to optimize the system and get the maximum effect. "Moving towards innovation enables to unlock the potential for efficiency improvement and push it to a totally different level, i. e. strategical asset management," Roman Romakhin, Maintex CEO, points out. "The combined effect of the SAP and Meridium solutions ensures major increase in business profitability as a whole."
